2007 E220 CDI Vibration When cold

Hi All

My dad recently purchased a 2007 E220 CDI (facelift model). When the car was bought we let the car warm up and test drove and everything was fine.

This was last week, but now we have noticed that when the car is cold (and only when cold) and we drive the car, when the gears change, there is a vibration and 'scrape' like noise from the under the car.

WHen the car has warmed up this noise dissappears.

I have read quite a bit about the torque converter but unsure if this would be the case as the issue is only when the car is cold and not warmed up.

All help will be appreciated

I doubt an issue with the torque converter------I would put the cold car on a lift, do what you do and from under the car look and listen!!
