Use your head - it works !

Want to extend the range your remote control will unlock your car?

Use your head - its true.

Try it...........see how far back you can be where the range of the remote control fails. Then step back even further and place the remote control so it touches the side of your head - at the temple- and try it again. Now it works ! - Bizarre but true.

Anyone know why? Plese tell me if you know.

And if you don't believe me - just get out there and give it a try.

Marc

I use the same trick when ever I have in weak battery in a remote. I don't know why this happens. Must be some energy from the body that boosts the battery charge.

hmm, never used it. Nevre had a reason to. My key works from like 80 yards away. Haven't tried further but 80 yards is far enough. I only need that trick with the BMW. Stupid thing has a range of like 3 meters or less. Still better than the Jeep Cherokee I once had. That thing had a range of literally one foot, and it had to be pointed through the window at the sensor. At that point, you might as well just unlock the car manually.

I read an article on this a while ago - the signal is amplified through your body or something - like a giant antenna. weird.

yea, your body acts as an antenna...for example. When you adjust the antenna on an old tv, when you touch it, it is clear picture, but once you leave, it goes back to static :p

yea this is a cool thing to do. i put it under my chin. we were discussing this with other people, and someone said its possibly because there is iron in your nose, which will make the signal stronger.

I've found that just raising the remote high in the air increases the range . As far as touching it to your head chin etc and the TV antenna comp...once your hand is on the remote you're already in contact with it so further touching it to your head, chin etc should not really add more amplification.

I've tried that from far away before (raising it in the air)...then I put it under my chin and it worked.
