It is embarrassing, but I am serious. I looked at threads, searches, youtube videos...cannot definitively determine location for my car type!

I do...purchased oil, filter from Mercedes...actually changed filter already (2 days ago. Was going to top extract oil but new MityVac 7400 did NOT work. Pulled car up on ramps and got underneath to see two splash plates that need removal.

Before I get into it...wish I could know for sure which drain to open.

Full disclosure...ha BMW 528i and drained transmition fluid...don't want to make that mistake again

IF you cannot find the oil drain plug, use the dipstick tube. This car is designed for oil changes with a vacuum pump, does not even need a pipe through the dipstick tube but one attached to the top.

You will have to remove under-shields to find the drain plug.

OK...brought into dealership and tech showed me everything when it was up on lift.

To be clear. The drain plug on this engine actually faces diagonally to the front/passenger side. You have to remove both front and back splash shields to access and drain.

Top extraction would be best with reliable pump!

The trick with the MityVac is to drain the oil when the oil is hot. I tried it one time with the oil warm and it was a real pain to get it all out.
