Sport Package???
I have a 2005 E500 and am looking to buy some brake pads, but need to know if I have the sport package or not. How would one know if they had the sport package? Any insight would be appreciated.

Be very very careful changing pads on the SBC system brakes.

Its best to do the job with the car locked and the key put away in a drawer or something. while you have the pads removed and or calipers off if a door to the car is opened it wakes up the SBC system and then you are in a mess. Do not unlock the car an DO NOT open a door while doing the job. Check youtube for guidance.

an afterthought... Wouln't the fact that he had visible dual exhaust thru the rear bumper reveal that he had a sport package car? ...or the black wood trim?
Of course the Data Card is a positive identifier.

All Done~!
Completed the brake job on just the front last night on a 2005 E500. The brake calipers had 2 pistons each and 2 different wear sensors, one on each side. I removed the top T-40 torx headed bolt from the top of the caliper and rotated it open on the bottom bolt. I had to create some slack in the brake lines by loosening up some brackets/grommets. Installing the new pads were a little tricky as there wasn't much room, but after some jiggling around I was able to figure out a way to get them in. Of course before starting the job, I disconnected the SBC connector.
