A/C "diagnostic mode"

I read this on the C203 forum i believe, but someone said that if you hold the "rest" button with the engine turned on, there is a submenu for the A/C. i did it, but it was real confusing, it changes the degrees, i guess it was celcius, but i wasnt sure. there are some options under it, but its real confusing, there is no description or anything, does anyone know what the menu does, and how to use it? thanks

cool, thanks a lot adam. but on my diag mode in the A/C unit, the driver side temp shows 00, and the passenger sows 21. then, if i press degree down for the driver, it will go to 99, and the passenger will change, i believe it goes to 37 or something. is there any point in changing any of these? i havent tried the comand yet, but is there any point in changing any of the comand ones also, thanks!

i tried doing the comand diag, but it wouldnt work, awiner do you know the buttons that i need to press, i think its because we have different comands, thanks, btw, how did you learn all of this, its real interseting.

Interesting....wonder if the comand diagnosis mode could yield information as to who has the latest software updates for the various problems we talk about on the W211?

Maybe someone with an update that solved a problem could post the version and others could check to see if they have that update.

You can't change any of the values via these diag modes, they only display information.

I think everyone can understand that you can't change the values.

I was referring to the fact that often we see posts where someone has had a problem resolved by an flash update on the software.

The problem we usually have is not knowing what version we may have...and if the update would help us.

I wonder if we can compare our version with the updated version when someone posts an flash update.

I had no problem in accessing the AC diagnostic mode.

I could not access the Comand diagnotics.

I have a 2003 E500 with Navigation.

With the radio on and playing and the radio station displayed on the screen.

I press and hold the "Mute + 1 + 3" key at the same time. Nothing changes and I continue to have the same screen displayed.

Where am I going wrong?

You may have to try a few times to get the Mute+1+3 working. I have tried in on a '04 E500 and it works.

If you hit the buttons right, you should be presented with the 1st diag screen in approx 5 seconds. If you don't get the screen, try again.

I also have tried several (many times) and nothing.

1. What screen should be showing when you start?
2. You say "if you do it right..." What would be right and wrong?
3. I simply hold down the 3 buttons at the same time. Is there a proper order or timing?

Thanks

I got the A/C mode easily, but could not get in to the COMAND mode. Tried several times. Each time, it either muted the stereo, or programmed in a new station.

COMAND Diagnositics Menu

I was also able to easily access the A/C diagnostics "menu" with ignition on and engine off.

After a few tries I gave up on the COMAND diagnositics search. A bit frustrating, but I am not yet sure it is available on COMAND II system at least using the same entry method.

Some further info and/or enlightenment would be helpful.
