Beautiful rant. Quite amusing actually. I just learned it only takes me a fraction of the effort to keep my car looking fabulous compared to you. For me, if my car gets a little dirty after a wash 2 days ago, just bust out my little power washer and spray that puppy down for 30 seconds. Good as new!

Orange County is basically where AMG's are considered basic cars, so they better have some damn good roads to go with them!

Haha thanks man! Obviously with every area in the country there's different challenges when it comes to keeping your looking good but winter weather states suck. The dream one day is a Ferrari and a lakefront house in Mission Viejo

Is there anything against wetsanding twice? I did it a year and a half ago and am really considering doing it again (I know, it's sad I didn't keep care of them). They've only gotten worse this past winter, of course it isn't as bad as Colorado haha, VA got hit with a decent amount of winter weather, and all that sand/nastiness has gotten to the car. Again, anything against it?

I don't see any reason why not honestly, I am about to as well. As long as you're not using a super aggressive grit and using water as lubrication, I see no problem with it. I'm sure someone on here will freak out and tell you that you're going to eat through too much material or un-verifiable non-existent UV protection or something but I would go for it.

When you sand you take off the UV protectant layer.

The plastic underneath will yellow and fog faster.

Either apply a film or a UV protectant clear coat.

Yeah, definitely thinking of doing so, then investing in Xpel or something of that sort to cover it up, and keep the headlights themselves as clean as possible, or to actually apply a UV protectant clear coat and may I say that's a beautiful spot for a photo shoot.

I used the 3M kit on my ML to kill the yellowing lens and clear them up. They lasted about a year before needing it again. I applied polyurethane 50/50 with mineral spirits. Other than a moron at the dealer hitting it with a power washer (also removing paint mind you) they have held up.

For the E I am clearing them with ceramic clear when I paint the bumper again. Also blacking the insides.

Xpel is great.
The instruction video demonstrates the use of heat gun, but not quite detailed enough.
I needed to heat up almost half of the piece to conform to the contour of the E sedan. Hopefully, didn't destroy the adhesive in the process.
