Transmission issues?
I have the 5 speed.
When taking off normal speeds, 2nd gear engages when the rpm reaches a certain level. 2nd gear stays at that level
for just a moment and then the rpms drop just a little, sometimes with a extremely slight pause, but still noticeable. it
seems to happen in the morning when the colder weather hit (40 F), but sometimes when i've been driving for hours so
the engine is warm. sometimes the same thing happens in 3rd gear. it's just not shifting smoothly as before. any
thoughts?
my dealer stated that the car revs up more in colder weather to warm the catalytic converter. it just doesn't seem
right..a passenger even noticed it once. they said "this that the transmission or are you letting up on the gas?"

All of our recent MBs except the AMG models shift like that. It almost acts and sounds like someone is shifting a manual where the throttle is lifted before the shift. The cold temp operation only holds the gears a little longer (higher RPM) to put more heat inthe engine and cats.

Yep, all are correct, its a emissions thing. Its really less pronounced in our 211s, my 94 C-class felt like you shifted in to low gear...
