Interested in opinions or conspiracy theories (or even facts) on the following: long story short, 2006 e350 was hit - rear door needed replaced. Per MB policy all air-bags, computers, codes, you name it ... all reset and completely cleared during the repair. Got my car back and it is running like an F1 tuned race car. Idle is incredible, shifts are perfect and crisp, throttle response is amazing, you name it .. it runs/works better. Is this what a computer reset will do for a W211 car? oh my.

What were you driving during the repair?

Was thinking it was more perception if you were driving a typical rental.

Naah, I assure you, it is not simply perception. I am keenly aware of the performance, noises, etc of my beloved W211. I've heard rumours and other stories about a tranny computer reset improving performance ... wondering if that along with other computers/systems being reset (completely cleared of all data) would have an impact? hence the original post. Not complaining, that's for sure

Since the computer learns driving habits and modifies it's responses to those habits it will always be a bit different. In a while it will learn again and a reset would do the same thing.

I used to reset the transmission in my other car and it did the same thing for a few days until it learned again.
