Repair Manual for W211 E320
Hey everyone, I'm a recently new MB owner looking for a repair manual for my 2008 E320 Bluetec. I've contacted dealerships in Canada and USA and they apparently don't stock/sell them. I've also searched the web and I'm having trouble finding one from a reputable online merchant. Can anyone help a brother out? Where can I find either the Star Factory Service DVD or even an old school printed manual if available... or am I better off acquiring the Star computer system for diagnostics and repair procedures...?
Thanks in advance for the help!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Depends on how much you will be using the DAS, mine cost me just over $700 and I believe it has more than paid for itself. The DVD's you can get at eBay, I see them there all the time for around $100- 150. The are two complete different things, with the DAS/Xentry you can access your computer for engine/transmission/chassis and change settings and other things aside form the squematics and such.
The DVD's are handy but not much for diagnostics. Xentry will run you 7 times the cost of the DVD's.
As I said, a loit bears on how you will use them and how deep your pockets are.

Thanks for the info guys! After looking into it I'm thinking more to the DAS/Xentry system with WIS. This is my first Benz and the most technologically advanced car I've owned. I've always had printed repair manuals or DVDs for any of my previous cars so it'll be handy to have a DAS system to do repair work.
65aircooled, where did you purchase your Xentry system or what online vendor do you recommend? Does it include the WIS? Did yours come with a laptop or display?

DAS Xentry is unquestionably the best tool for a Benz Owner.
I would never suggest there is anything on par with the star system, but at a minimum, at a fraction of the cost, a good OBDII Code Scanner is a necessity. I have an Actron CP9580a, and I'm very happy with it.

I don't have the Xentry... my mechanic does. I just recently had an issue with the Transmission Conductor Plate, and I was able to get the code and info about what was needed before taking the car to my mechanic. I didn't tell him what I knew.... wanted to see if he was as honest as I thought. He let me watch him hook it up and run it through tests. The DAS Xentry came up with the same info, after a lot more clicking! Of course he was able to get more detailed info wrt part numbers etc., but the "code connect" database in the Actron is always increasing.... and it gives peace of mind that you know what the issue is and if it's a DIY fix. Taking the tranny "apart" was more than I wanted to deal with.

I would go that route (Actron reader) however I also need a WIS with repair procedures so I can get to know my engine... and how to keep it happy. Mercedes are often described as spaceships and after first glance under my hood I know why... it drives like a rocket and the engine looks like an alien.

Take that "spaceship" plastic cover off the engine, and it's just an engine, with a crapload of "sensors and computers" bolted on ;-)
Let me know what you find. I'm not much of a DIYer, but "knowledge is power", and I like power. :-)

I got mine from Shardul (a member here), and yes, I recommend him and his product, I know many others here recommend him as well. He will not hold your hand and teach you how to use it (I guess I expected more than what was reasonable) but he stands behind his product. I had a couple of issues upon arrival which he resolved in a timely manner without much fuss. Also gave me his personal cel number and communicated either by voice or text during the ordering, set up and first couple of doubts/questions I had. The battery and power cord gave up in the first couple of days, I guess his IT guy didn't check those. However, I sent pictures of both and he shipped me a new one of each.
May not give the tech support i have read that other sellers offer but all and all, he gave me enough to start, then google took over

...for $157.00 Looks like what I'd need for my 2007 E350. Is that a decent price?
Update: Found this thread> https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...repair-cd.html which pointed me to an updated version, which I found here> http://www.ecstuning.com/ES2701664/ at a better price.... $125 plus 18+ for shipping via FedEx
The first place I had found it bounced my order back. This DVD is "discontinued", so we'll see if ECS Tuning has a bunch of old stock.
Still wondering about the below... anyone know what "85M00000021" means?
Also, I was dicking with the MFD and got to the "next service due in...." screen, and I get this:

What's that 85M00000021 mean?

I couldn't find the service manual through the EPC site, but I did find it here:

I'm going to go with the Xentry DAS/WIS system I think. More money but probably worth the investment.
I happened to find this DVD repair manual in my search today:
http://mbwis.com/en/mercedes-benz-wi...stem-2012.html
...it's worth looking in to!
Any luck with this? Do they have any stock?

The status on the ECS order currently says that the DVD is being transferred to the main shipping warehouse:

Does DAS Xentry include WIS or somehow provide full detailed repair instructions? 741-195-859 May 28 2014 May 30 2014 Warehouse Transfer 1 $144.89

The WIS subscription is typical stealership pricing.

What made you decide on the Star DVD from ECS Tuning rather than the cheaper ones on eBay?
Yes, the DAS Xentry includes WIS (Workshop Information System) which contains the detailed repair instructions. Yeah, the stealership version is for MB repair shops but most private users go with a "Chinese version" from what I understand...

I would assume that MB will not be coming up with many updates or repair updates for our w211's...

I didn't go with the eBay versions out of distrust. If I can get an actual MB product that is discontinued I'll be pleased.
If, however, the DAS / Xentry package includes all the same... damn damn damn! I would much rather have thrown the money at that!![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)
from my post a few above "What's that 85M00000021 mean?" <-- Anyone?
