phone disconnecting: talking to dealer on Fri. need help

I know there was a thread at one time about this, but I'm in kind of a hurry. I had my car in today because my phone is disconnecting from the system constantly. I was also having the static in the radio and unable to shut it off. They did the flash upgrade to the radio. I guess this has nothing to do with the phone problem, since when I got in the car and looked at the paper work I noticed next to the phone issue "no problem found". Everyone's favorite comment!! I live 10 minutes from the dealer and the phone disconnected 3 times on the way home. I spoke to my SA when I got home and he said he would call me back. He called later on and put me on with the foreman who wasn't sure what the problem was. He said he would research it. I told him I would research it as well and told him I would probably have an answer before he would. Has anyone who has had this problem gotten it fixed. Funny thing is that I did not have this problem with my pre-nav car. If they are tied in, shouldn't the flash upgrade have fixed this?

CTE430 - yes there was another thread on this in which both myself and at least one other member have this same exact problem. Other issue in addition to it disconnecting was that the caller on the other end would frequently here an echo of him/herself when speaking to the driver. Mine seems to have the disconnect problem more frequently when the phone is charging. The system will mysteriously shut the phone off and the system will show phone not available or connected. One time the message read insert simm card in phone (this is a GSM feature and more likely for European cars). Anyway, I just brought my car in for this yesterday and they needed to keep it overnight since they can't replicate the problem (figures). The service rep told me he's heard of this before and that it's likely the audio gateway software update issue posted here numerous times on the '03's. I questioned this theory since this was an 03 problem not 04 and told him it's not the radio but more likely the voice control module or the phone equipment itself. I think I read that somewhere else here. He said it's all connected. I learn more today and keep you posted.

Hudson, thanks for the reply. Please let me know. I am not having the echo probems you described (at least no one has said anything!). Weird thing is that my prenav car (an '03) did not do this. The nav car is also an '03. They did keep my original V60 phone and put it into the nav car. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. It started out happening every now and then, and now it is a constant re-booting of the phone. The system is almost unuseable. Plus the radio. I had to pull over twice this week to remove the key so the radio would shut off. I'm afraid i'll have people with me and I won't be able to shut the damn thing off!

After consulting with MB Corporate, Service was advised to replace handset. Guess they don't think the problem is connected to the audio gateway. I personally think the problem is too new for them to know for sure. If it happens again, I may decide to live with it for a while until more people experience it and a service bulletin is eventually issued.
