Water leaks-lower front door seal?

Water leaks-lower front door seal?
Recently, I completed a 5 hour hwy drive, mostly in moderate rain conditions. Upon arrival at my destination, I noticed that driver's side door's lower inside trim (the 1 1/2 inch wide fabric covered area located between the plastic inside sill and "exterior" aluminum trim that says "Mercedes-Benz") was soaking wet. Fortunately, the carpet+floor mats were dry.

The next day I visually inspected the various rubber door seals and everything looked normal. Hmmm..where is that moisture coming from? How/why is it getting past the seals?

I would appreciate getting thoughts from others who have had similar experiences.
