Question How to replace battery on 2009 Mercedes Benz E350

Hello again guys. I posted a thread earlier about having problems with the AM/FM/Satellite radio displaying a device unavailable message after my car died and jump starting the car. I read that disconencting and reconnecting the battery or replacing the battery all together may fix the problem. I need to know the exact procedure for disconnecting and reconnecting the main battery. Do you disconnect the ground or positive terminal first or what? I appreciate any and all help. Thanks.

You always disconnect the ground first. Also, if you have Keyless Go, make sure the key fob is not within range of the car.

Excellent. Thanks. I'm hoping this will fix the device unavailable problem. I'm hoping disconnecting and reconnecting the battery will fix it or buying a new battery at the most. I hate to think I fried some electronics or something.

How do I check the battery voltage? It's a 2009 Mercedes Benz e350.

If you don't have a voltmeter, it can be done easily via the steering wheel menu buttons and viewed in the mfd (multi function display, ie dash)

Starbrite: Honcho is trying to put up a thread about tips and tricks on the W211. it would be very useful to post a step by step detail on how to check the battery voltage on our cars on that thread.

Closeone: sorry for the OT. Goodluck with your car!
