Question W211 Mechanical problems

well, today I decided to call the car shop that my car is in because I asked for an estimate on the "Left Air Strut" and they said to replace both in the front... makes sense so yea I have no problem, but also he said that the front axle is bad, that it needs a coolant flush and a brake flush... I am confused because my car only has 54000 miles on it.

By any chance anybody knows a good online site to buy air struts and a front axle ( both sides )? I ask so I can avoid the amazingly pricy MB parts from MB.

Arnott for struts.

Many fluid flushes are more time than miles.

Most fluid flushes/refills can be done yourself to save money also.

Well they just gave me an estimate which includes: Brake flush, coolant flush, multi-point fuel injection flush, door lock knob, a diagnostic, tow hook cover, front cup holder, front axles, the two front air strus, the air compressor for the suspensions and service D.

All that for $4,400. I think is not that bad or is it?

Struts yes. Did the compressor burn out. It is possible if you drove on leaking struts without having it repaired.

Front Axles? why? are the bearings bad on both axles? How did that happen?

You can do a brake flush with a $100 tool.

Why do you need door knob? Injector flush? Cup holder? That sounds like fishing for profits. Do you use prem fuel? Most top tier fuels have injector cleaner in them.

If it's the front wheel hubs that's bad you can replace both of those in about an hour and a half. 2 hours if you've never done it before.

Can you scan the service invoice/quote? Think that would say loads to what people are asking here.
Also, what is your mechanical repair comfort level? Oil changes, brakes, transmission rebuilds,... ?
