I've had my E320 for about 4 months now and one of the little annoyances I have found is that when I brake quickly to a hard stop (no rolling) there is a momentary hesistation in the acceleration of the car when I put my foot on the gas pedal again. If I brake to a stop more gradually (easing off the brake pedal) and come to a complete stop there is no acceleration hesitation what so ever (when I get back on the gas).

I am assuming that this little annoyance is a result of the sophisticated software that governs the brakes and engine. I'm just wondering if any others have had the same experience?

Eventually I will ask the MB service department to take a look at the issue, however, it is not so annoying that I am compelled to take it in right away.

I have not noticed what you describe, but if you are left foot braking it will momentarily delay the accelerator action when the brake is engaged.

Take it back to the dealer, tell them you need the software upgrade for the ECU. Once they upgrade it, that problem should be gone.

Is the software upgrade addressing this issue referenced in any service bulletin - or is this part of MB's continuous improvement efforts?

Yes, there is a bulletin out on this.
And it was just updated yesterday or Thursday.
