2003 E500 Non-HK Subwoofer Replacement?
Hey guys-

I have a 2003 E500 with the base stereo system. The subwoofer needs to be replaced and I was wondering what my options are. I was not exactly wowed with the factory subwoofer. Is there anything I can replace it with that will fit in the existing space?

I chose to disconnect mine and simply add another woofer in the trunk. I am considering mounting a new woofer in the rear deck.

After a bit more research, make sure you brace the rear deck with MDF or Birch. Use matting in between the deck and bracing. Buy an open air sub for IB setup. I am running a Type R with a JL 500W amp in the trunk and the sound is enough. I think I will stick with the 500W amp and buy a sub to see how it sounds. I imagine it will be plenty loud enough.
