OK...It's ZAINO time
How many of the new owners (2003 and 2004) have applied the mandatory 6 to 10 coats of Zaino?
Lots of talk here about Zaino last year when all the new W211's were new.
It occurs to me that many of the newer owners may not even have heard of it.
I had have about 6 coats of Zaino on my replacement. Not as good as I did on my pre-nav...must be running out of steam. Hard to keep it up in the winter...but probably more needed.
MODS: Don't move to Detailing Forum....this is not meant to be a technical discussion. Just a discussion of opinions on Zaino.
Anyone who wants to know how and where should go to the Detailing Forum and check it out.
It would be interesting to know how many owners are using Zaino...or anything else for that matter.

I have been using Zaino--maybe have 5 or 6 coats in all--and I have been very pleased with the results. Not only does it look great right after you apply it, but the car will look good a month or two later after a good rain.

Been using Zaino for 5 years now and it's great. After 5 years of owning my Vette, the paint still was in great shape due to hundreed of coats of Zaino over the years. The car was 5 years old when I took these pics of my Vette this past summer:
Zaino is ready and waiting to be applied once my E500 arrives.

Applying Zaino to the car was one of the first things I did after I took delivery. I also had the 3M Scotchcal applied to minimizing paint chipping. I highly recommend both products.
In addition to Zaino making the car really shine, it makes washing the car lot easier also.

never heard of the Zaino-thing here in germany, but maybe you don´t need it anymore in 2004. at least in germany Mercedes introduces the Nano-Particle Clearcoat which is a really huge step forward.

I truly hate detailing, washing or waxing a car. But....if you turn it over to someone else, they will probably screw it up for you with swirls, etc.
The main reason I use Zaino is that it is really simple and not a lot of work. Easy on and easy off with a great look and protection.

S100
I'm a big fan of S100 wax and Vanilla Moose Polish (S100 polish is also great, but VM seems to work better on Silver cars) I don't mind washing and waxing (kind of relaxing). Was going to try zaino, but that initial step just seemed to complicated and time consuming. The S100 is extremely easy to use.

The initial step you are referring to (I think) is claying. You don't have to clay if you don't want to. It just prepares the car better for the application of ANY polish or wax. No more necessary for Zaino than any other.
The only other thing that is recommended is to wash the car in Dawn to get rid of any old wax so the Zaino can bond right to whatever it bonds to.:p
I found it to much easier and simple than anything else.
Wash the car
Apply the Zaino (easy to do)
Wipe it off (also very easy)
Apply gloss enhanser (if you want)..no harder than wiping a rag
Has to be easy or I wouldn't do it:p

3 coats ZX'd after a wash and dry and then z-6'd , kind of like shoveling 28 inches of snow on the east coast. Been there and done that. Found muscles I didn't know i Had. Nevertheless a great shine!! Highly recommeneded.

Zaino question
Guys, I bought Zaino last summer for my NAV Replacement car and I have put on 3 coats in the past 4 months. My question is what temp can you apply it. I live in Boston and we may get to 48 degrees next week. Can I apply it in my garage at these temps? I think that I want to get a couple of additional coats on before the heavy snow/salt season. Thanks for any help.

Zaino says that the product works best at temps over 60 degrees but ok down to 45 degrees.
If you use the ZFX accelerator, the lower temps don't seem to bother it at all. I put a coat on Friday and the temp was about 40 degrees. Dried in about 30 to 45 minutes and no problems.

If that link does not work...try zainobros.com
Sal Zaino also has an 800 number you can call and they will be very helpful with any questions. At least that was my experience.
