Changes

He heheh They didn't think it was funny to refer to loose wheels....

I find a few changes- ( BTW- I have white gauges)

The light onthe white gauges has a yellowish tint which I do not care for.

The car shifts a lot smoother, feels a lot softer. Seems quieter.
The W/S mode is now C/S and C is described as "Comfort" and starts the car in second but shifts quicker/ S is sportier.

The Sport II is almost the same as Sport I of the 03 Airmatic ride.
Gone is the real tight Sport II that some liked.

Headrest support columns are geared or notched in 04 not 03. Maybe had somnething to do with the rattle reported in front passanger side.

Wheels on the 'Sport" look the same, but are painted not milled. Not sure if I like these type or not. Milled looked better to me.

The pano glass is a lot lighter in tint. Seems no connection to the solar cells. Here in So Texas we like a little more tint.

Summer Feature works from a few more feet away- probably just stronger signal strength.

My glove box has no "mid" shelf or tray so it is virtually a waste of space.

Still have the Conti Sport Contact 2 Tires- "W" rated.

No side emblem or shifter insignia as "Sport" was dropped.

I added NAv so the whole Comand deal is different and I have no real good points of referance. I am still wandering around in menus and sub menus but the NAV seems good not great. I have honestly seen better in a Lexus.

So far I like the car- Who wouldn't, but I miss my milled wheels.

Headlights

The dealer says these are the active cornering lights but I find that nowhere documented. I cant say I see much differance. Just drove oncve at night andf at a low speed. I beelieve That you have to be going like 60 and above to tell the usefulness.

I took delivery of my car yesterday-Nov'03 build date.
From what I was informed, my car doesn't have active cornering lights either.
The sales reps also told me that it's going to be available on late Dec build date and on.

i don't recall seeing a "delayed availability" comment in the 2004 brochure on the cornering xenons?

Oh Well- I replaced the non-XENON low/high beams withj the off road extreme bright so the brightness factor is not an issue. I worry more abouyt getting snagged for non street legal lights. They are extra bright when on high.

I was under the impression that all HID equipped 04's would have the active cornering feature. I have not been able to verify whether or how they work, though. I'm not sure what circumstances have to occur for them to move.

I have them on my Canadian 2004 and they work well, although a bit subtle.

You can tell you have them when you turn on the lights, it'll do a self test first going up and down (like all xenons do), followed by a right to left sweep.

W210, when was your car manufactured? Mine was built in September 2003 and is one of the very early 2004's. Still don't have my car back from the Service Dept, but I've asked them to look into whether or not I have this feature. Don't think I do as I've not seen them go left and right when I turn them on.

My Canadian 2004 was built second decade in September. One of the earliest 2004 E55 but when I placed the order, I definitely did check the 'active bi-xenon' lights option which works out to be around US$400.

No luck- mine go up and down no side to side. Guess I will not be able to count on the cornering function

Angry Bi-Xenon "Cornering" Lights

The E500 4Matic that I ordered in August, 2003 from Flagship Motors in Lynnfield, Massachusetts arrived at the dealership on December 26,2003. Inasmuch as several W211 form members could not discern whether or not their vehicles had the "cornering feature" specified being a part of the Lighting Package option, I decided to do some research to try and ascertain whether the "cornering feature" was actually included in the E500 that was delivered to Flagship for me. My research on Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) indicated that there were differences in the Lighting Package included in W211 vehicles produced before Novemeber 10, 2003, the W211 vehcoles produced between Novemeber 10, 2003 and November 24, 2003, and the W211 vehicles manufactured after November 24, 2003. Thus, I immediatley contacted the General Sales Manager at Flagship Motors to determine whether the Lighting Package on "my" E500 had the cornering feature. The General Sales Manager did not know the answer, but he subsequently contacted me and told me that the "cornering feature" was delayed in production and was only being included in W211s produced after November 23, 2003. Upon inquiry, the General Sales Manager advised that he did not think that the "cornering feature" could be added to the vehicle which had been delivered. The General Sales Manager did allow me to reorder the car and I am now expecting to take delivery around March 10, 2004.

The lack of accurate information coming from MB absolutely amazes me. I've had two different people tell me "yes" all 2004's with xenon have the cornering feature. From what I've seen posted here, I'm convinced I don't have it as my car was produced in decade 2 of September and I don't see my lights go side to side when I turn them on. Interesting, that when the 2004's came out the website said nothing about them, but now it does. Guess the delayed availability information is correct. But why didn't anyone know about this?!?!? Why does Germany keep all this a big secret from both MBUSA and the USA dealers? I've heard grumblings from Sales, Parts, and Service about the lack of information they receive. Really puts them in a pinch when they are trying to service the customer.
