Power Steering Fluid

Mineral fluid should never be mixed with synthetic based fluid or used in cars designed for synthetic based fluid.
I believe most German cars stopped using mineral based PS fluid in the 90's.
Funny you should ask; my 5 liter bottle of CHF-11s just arrived today. Doing a 1/2 change on the E, GL and A6. (Changing what is in the reservoir)
EDIT:
Finding conflicting information on the MB numbers.
Seems the only thing everyone agrees on is Pentosin CHF-11s
EDIT2:
My guess is that Q1460001 is (or is like) CHF-202, a slightly newer fluid.
Audi switched from 11s to 202 in 2006, but there is no reference to MB switching.
Most Audi places recommend the new fluid even for the older cars.
The specifications are very close, and even Pentosin says they can be mixed.
Have to recheck the reference that said the Q1460001 was mineral based, as that seem unlikely.

q1460001 is not for the w211. I read somewhere that this was still used in R M and GL class cars as of June 2006 for model year 2007 cars. Q1460001 when mentioned in MBZ literature will sometimes also say "or approved Dextron III or equivalent".
It got me confused so I checked my manual and went to check the fluid color and realized it's completely empty, hence the whining when I turn the wheel at idle (just started a few days ago). I have ordered the CHF11S and will report results here.

I talked to dealer today and they old me Q1320001 is for W211, and when I offered to provide my VIN for confirmation, he would not take it. This is the 2nd time I confirm with a different dealer.

However, other cars contain, and their owner's manuals say, CHF-11S/345.0 you simply have to check for yourselves. It's hard to tell because MB CHF and their other ATF-PSF are both amber. if you want to do this right, you have to go by smell. ATF has a very distinct smell like gear oil, CHF does not. Personally I do not like CHF, it's too thin and PAO base is unfriendly to seals. Given a choice, I would ALWAYS go with ATF.
It's a shame that MB made it so hard to know the identity of such a fluid because mixing them is very bad. Best guidance I've seen in writing is that CHF is for cold climates and ATF for hot ones. That was from a manual I saw.

Even Opie lists different kinds of PSF for MB, all lumped together and only Pentosin for 345 service, as far as official specs go. I'm glad I figured mine out long ago. Whenever I have an extra 1/2q of ATF (Dex6) I pump out the reservior and top it off.
