Has Anyone Noticed...
That the M.S.R.P on the e500 has risen from $55,550 to $56,270??? I obtained this info from mercedes website. My dealer called me to say my e500 will be in port (LA) on the 3rd of Jan and would like me to come in on saturday (12-27) start the paper work and financing on the transaction. At the same time were getting a price on the possible trade-in of our 98 V-70 GLT Volvo Wagon. What I'm wondering is if the sales drone will try to charge me the extra $$$ for the car since the price has risen.... The original deal was a $1000.00 over invoice, $62,330 (with appearence and premium pkgs and guzzler tax inc) so the total price would be 63,330 + tax and lic. This is my first mercedes and the first car I've actually ordered from the factory and was wondering whats the norm with this situation...

I think you will end up still paying $1K over invoice, but invoice will be higher. Also be ready to pay some unexpected fees like advertising fees which appear on the invoice to the dealer in certain mkts.
Of course, having said this, I think all is negotiable, and so I would just tell the dealer that price going up after he paid the deposit should not be your fault, and to match the original $1K over invoice amount...then if he pushes back, tell him to meet you half way...I don't think he will put up much fuss of $300-$400..

Thanks for your input abhansali... I have a document mailed to me from the dealership showing the price (invoice at that time) and option costs after I originally ordered it.... This shows the total that I am to pay.... Could this be used as leverage to make them honor our original ageement??? Personally I feel a deal is a deal and it would be pretty chicken **** for them to hold me to the new invoice.... B.T.W what abouit these advertising fees??? What do you think thats going to run????

If you have a "sold order" confirmation at the time of order placement then MB will honor the price at the time ordered. All car companies honor sold order pricing. The dealer just submits a chargeback to MB for the differenence, if he is even charged the higher price. The ad fees vary by region, usually $200-$500 and they appear as part of the invoice.

I had the same situation with my E55 (I had ordered it 140 months prior to delivery). The price I paid was the original MSRP, not the increased price. Your dealer should honor your prior arrangement.

If the document has an actual $ amount on it, they should honor that price. If it says $1000 over invoice, you'll probably have to pay the current price.

Perhaps your right (I hope)... The fact is their website showed the base price at $55,550 for what seemed like forever, then sometime last week it has changed to $56,270.... I went down the option list to find what ahd went up in price but with no sucsess... They obviously did'nt include the shipping charge in the base before (Im guessing)............. I'm leaving to see the sales drone in a few hours to get my financing in order and I'll be asking a few questions about these (active headlights) That I can get no one with an 04 to verify they have on this board...I'm sure if the price did indeed go up, I'm going to hear about it today.... Thanks for your advise and replys.

Yes, we will have a new SLK for '05.
It will be a little bigger with a bit of an SLR/FI look to the nose.
I don't have any pics yet, maybe someone out there has some "spy photos".

No the SLK does not have the SC430 top, the SLK hard top preceded that by 4 years.
Check out benzworld.org for pictures of the new SLK and the new line of engines that will be first seen on the SLK. The 4/valve, direct inject, variable valve timing engine that will eventually replace all MB V engines. Hey maybe Hellonharley will wait to re-order because he wants to wait for the new engine.

the current SLK doesnt really have a aerodynamic roof, if you look at the window lines, it reminds me of the old S-class, it isnt like a half circle like the E-class. The SC430 looks like it has a very aerodynamic which is very low, and circular, after looking at the new SLK, it has the exact same roof, check out the pics on mbusa.com
