Radio Doesn't Turn On
I have a 2004 E320 that has been great for years, but is now starting to have little problems here and there. The most recent one is that when I turn on the radio, I get nothing. After hitting the power button, I hear it come on, and then the "MB" logo is displayed on the screen. But then I hear nothing else and the radio never comes on.
Any idea what the problem is likely to be? Is it something I can fix myself, or do I need to take it to the dealership?
Thanks for any ideas out there.

Ok. I used the search tool (should have done that first) and read a few similar threads. Before I try pulling out the fuze, how do I reset the Comand?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Ok. After reading some other threads, I'm trying the trick of removing the fuse from the #6 slot and reinserting it after waiting for a period.
I've removed the hard felt cover, but I see a plastic cage covering the fuses. How do I remove that plastic cage without breaking it?
Thanks.

had the same problem. I did a disconnect of main battery for a moment then reconnect and it worked fine ever since. Let us know if this works ?

f6 @ rear SAM is for AGW http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...,d.cGE&cad=rja, f28 (radio) and f26 (cdc) @ interior fuse panel should also be checked. As mentioned battery disconnect "may" clear it. Most common cause for your type of malfunction bad AGW. SAM should be readily accessible after removing trunk liner http://www.scribd.com/doc/40071926/W...y-Box-in-Trunk SDS will give definitive diagnose.

Thanks. But do I really have to remove the trunk liner? This pic shows the fuse boz exposed and the liner still in place.
Here is what my trunk looks like. There is some cover preventing me from getting to the fuses.

I've had the same problem. My stereo would only display MB logo. I never fixed it though... If removing fuses would not help it either agw or unit itself. I've been trying to fix it like mad.. Went to the MB they said they can fix it but it will cost too much. It one of those things where they need to find the problem because star computer wouldn't give anything. My suggestion is to get exactly the same unit and swap it if it doesn't work it could be agw Mercedes will charge ridiculous price for that to be replaced because it needs to be coded. The others cause could be most ring which is also pain in the *** to replace. If most ring fails it will trigger other units to malfunction teleaid(which nobody uses, but it has to give malfunction error) . As I said it is a complicated problem. You need somebody who understands Mercedes audio/navigation system.

To remove the trunk liner all I had to use was a flat head screwdriver for the plastic tabs that are holding in the liner. Just remember to take out the solid black piece that runs along the front (the opening closest to you when you're standing at the back of the car) first and don't pull too hard on it as there are connections for the two lights on it.
It's not as hard as it looks, just take your time and look at the tabs that are holding it all in.

The cage that is in front of the fuses has 4 tabs that (two on each side) that are located about an inch from the top and bottom. Gently pull those tabs towards you. As far as removing the "plastic knobs" for the netting simply unscrew those, I believe it is a torx (star) type screw.
