Please help identify the issue
2003 E320 Sport w/49k has started making a rubbing sound from the front left well area when the steering wheel is turned slightly to the left. Does not make the sound when the wheel is straight, to the right or full left. It seems to only happen when the car is warmed up and been driven a bit and only at low speeds, under 20mph, that I can hear.
It sounds like a whooshing or rubbing, not metallic, and as I mentioned only when the wheel is slightly to the left.
I was hoping that it was something simple that I can tackle and not the bearings. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
