left low beam not working

left low beam not working
Hi. today my w211 started giving me the error message for the left low beam. i checked it and it was out. i replaced the bulb but still the headlight wouldnt work. i took it to my mechanic and he took out the whole headlight. after 2 hours of messing with it he told me he couldnt figure it out. the problem is, when we checked the connectors that plug into the headlight, there was no current going to them. we checked the wire by connecting a bulb type of thing to it and the bulb would turn on for a second and then turn off. then it would turn on and off again in the same pattern. also when we switched the headlight on, the bulb would light up a second and then it would shut off again. anyone has any clue what could be wrong. also, would it be ok if i run a temporary wire from the right low beam to the left one for a few days. just to power the left low beam until we can figure out whats wrong? any help would be appreciated. thanks
