2005 E500 Trunk Soft Close Button
I just picked up this vehicle. The trunk open/close toggle in the drivers door works fine. It controls the open function and also the closing function of the trunk. However, the close button in the trunk lid does not close the trunk. It is illuminated red, so I know there is some power to the button. I searched the forums but could not find anyone with this same problem. Any ideas?
Additional information: The trunk also pops with the key fob...license plate and brake lights are working.

Did you see this thread re:
your Question:

Most of the features are the same on the W/S211s, so a specific search on e500 is not necessary. Good luck,

Hmmm, that is strange indeed.
BTW, does your door- switch work to close the trunk/boot? I have never used that "door toggle" to close mine; I assumed,, when you opened it, someone will be there to press 'close', and you're done. I actually rarely use my switch; the dealer showed me how to do a quick "pull-release" on the lever near the plate.
I will have to look into the closing aspect on my switch...

I had the same situation one time and I removed and reinstalled the fuse for the trunk closer which is located in the driver rear fuse panel. It's been fine since, so maybe it needed to be "reset"?

None of the fuses in the trunk (left side) affected the light in the closer button. Which fuse are you referring to? I pulled the 30A MAXI fuse next to the battery that controls the Trunk Closer Module, but that didn't change anything.

Hi,
I am working on my 2005 E500 AWD with the Trunk not opening wither via the driver door switch, fob or the trunk lever. It however opens by pressing the Green button inside the trunk which s the emergency button in case you get trapped inside the trunk. If somebody has a picture of the pigtail connector that goes to the actuator, it has 3 wires. I can start with that since it got messed up-wires pulled from the connector. It might just be a mispositioned wire when I was trying to put it back. Thanks.
