My E500 Test Drive
Hello chaps.
I recently became aware of my need for a slightly larger, yet sportier automobile due to my clientele change.
In this quest, I considered the BMW 745i, E500 and the S500. The 5 series is just too severe a vehicle for my consideration.
I scheduled several appointments to with the BMW dealer in my area as well as the MB dealer. First up was the S500. Good lord that’s a large vehicle. Way too large for me. Strike 1.
Next BMW 745iL. Still too large but it was a much better performer than the S500 to me. Too musty and iDrive was far too involved a device to be in a vehicle in my opinion. Perhaps spending more time with it would have changed my opinion.
Last the E500. Size - Just right. Drove it from Ray Catena up US-1 and my oh my..... That roar is addictive. It just wouldn’t stop pushing me into the seat. I have found my next car.
Now I just need to decide if I should get the 4Matic or not. I will probably order it this year to get an 05 model.
Now I’ll just have to be patient with my C320 till then.

nice, congrats on your future purchase man! E500's asurely are quick, i love putting it in 4th from 60, and go up to 80 and seeing the rpm only go up by .6
are you gonna look at the E55? those are much nicer imo, especially if you wanna show off with your clients

Good choice.... Mine will arive in a few months. I was set on an e320 but made the mistake and also test drove the 500... The mistake was it cost me another 5 large.....But I think I'll make do...

I've only driven my new E500 for about 800 miles but the car can handle anything you throw at it and then some more. It's almost like a beast that can reach 80 mph in a blink without even breaking into sweat. The car's ability to handle can exceed your ability to drive it.

2010 E350 4-Matic, Silver, Blk Leather, P2 package, Sport pkg, Drive Dynamic Seat
I am awaiting delivery of my E-500 4-Matic any day now. Even though we are experiencing a mild winter thus far in CT, the 4-Matic option will come in handy when the snow eventually hits.

I'm picking up my e500 4matic in 2 days, and probably won't sleep too much/too well between now and then. I ordered it on 6-30-03; it actually arrived about 8-10 weeks early! I liked the e500 when it first came out, but was very disappointed that mb didn't offer the 4matic the first year. If mb hadn't done the 4matic this year, I probably would have gone with the new audi a8. All wheel drive is definitely the way to go, imho.
