Radio pre-sets from steering wheel
The issue of not being able to scroll through the radio pre-sets has not been corrected. I just got my 2004 E320 car last week and noiced it during the drive home. All I can do is scroll to the next available satation. According to my dealer, there is no update that can make the steering wheel buttons scroll through presets.
Has anyone found a different answer? I find it hard to believe that this can not be changed through a program update.
Thanks!

No fix on my 12-03 delivery E 500 either. Just seems we are lucky to live in a metro area that when you scroll through the wheel buttons we find something we enjoy frequently. May be that our taste is quite varied so a big range is acceptable

Europe probably has this feature.
USA market is not worthy in the eyes of MBHQ.

My wife's BMW has-
Presets through the steering wheel
Intermittent wipers that work like they should
Did not drift to right while car in motion
steering wheel does not have shimmy in it
Ambient noise sensor for volume control on stereo works extremely better.
Temp control for the air conditioning/heat works much better.
I want my cake and eat it too.

do you have the standard HVAC on your 320 or the 4 zone option? you hear both comments here, some people do not like the 4 zone, they like the dials on the 320, then you hear the opposite.
sounds like you shimmy and drift is a bad wheel or tire, or a poor balance.

I have the 2 zone system.
The drift has finally been corrected after 4 trips to the SA. Hers never drifted from day 1.
I will have the wheels rotated in about 500 miles and see if that corrects the shimmy.

Hi there. I have both a 2003 and a 2004 530i. I'm really dissapointed with the new 5. I'm talking performance and handling wise. If you get this car on the Turnpike or any open highway on a moderate windy day, the car bounces from lane to lane like a van would do when hit by the wind. You definitely have to hold on to the steering with both hands. With my 2003 530i I can drive over 100 mph, let go of the steering and the car stays perfectly in the lane. I was wondering if there are other owners out there who might want to share your opinion on the 2004 model.
Also, the wind noise at highway speeds (loud!). The memory setting for the steering and mirrors have to be reset and readjusted every morning. The radio goes in and out randomly with static, already one cupholder is locked in place and won't open. This car has only 1000 miles on it. The dealer has already replaced a front tire because with less than 50 miles on it, it would not drive straight. This is the regular suspension, no Active Steering.
I wish I could return it.
Thanks

My friend got 04 S class and this feature is no there either.
Don't blame MBHQ in USA for this. I think people from Stuttgart make these decisions just look at the post about Mr. Schremp.
It states that he is lookeing where to lower the cost.

Not a Benzer anymore
In the scheme of things, some extra programming lines cost that much???
To add a few extra programming lines to have another set of buttons roam through programming stations...
On the 2002, you have a choice of either scanning the presets or scanning all stations in order.

I am truly astounded that the steering wheel buttons can't do the presets.
Along with the fact that the radio display does not prominently and easily display the time (I can't get used to the analog clock, plus passengers should be able to see the time too), they obviously did not think things through properly.
ANYONE WHO SAYS WE SHOULD LIVE WITH SUCH SILLY LITTLE QUIRKS IS A MB SHILL!!
