Exclamation W211 COMAND problem

W211 COMAND problem

Hi all, I own a Japan spec 03' W211 E240 which comes with COMAND. Last week one of my disc stucked in the CDC, the CDC keep ejecting and loading whilst the disc was still sticking in there, at last I managed to take the CD out from the slot, but strange things happened. The whole COMAND is seems dead!! When I press the power switch, I can barely see the LCD screen turned to black, just it won't show the MB logo or booting page (originally in a very dark green when not switched on), so I assume it's not the electricity problem. Also, when I press the cover button under the hazard light, the cover won't pop-up.... Manage to get a scanner from my mechanic friend, get it diagnosed and come out with these codes,

Fault code Description

D102. MOST component at position 2 reports open ring

D010. [c1, 1,d0, 10], Please refer to the relevant manual

D117. Specified / actual configuration of MOST cannot be located

So any idea about this?? Thanks in advance.

You have to update the Audio gateway.. Some of the w211s has had similar issues..

CDC seems to be causing MOST loop malfunction. Attempt a reset: check fuse f26 (CDC) & f40 (UCP) @ interior fuse box if fine, pull each for a minute or two then reinsert; if this fails remove connections to CDC and reconnect , access shown here
if this fails you may need to replace CDC - MB DAS should provide a definitive answer inclusive of AGW.

Thanks for the reply mate. I have tried to the fuses method n reconnect method. No luck at all.... I had measure the CDC power source (the one with 3 wires, black, red n brown), and it shown 13v n 14v respectively...... But looks like the CDC is not working, even the fan behind the CDC. Is not working....... Same to the HU, since this is a JDM, the APS 50 HU comes with Retractable DVD and mini disc slot, it is functioning, but it's not inserting disc into the slot when I tried, also! the fan behind the HU is also not working...... So strange...... Instead of different HU, I bet all the W211 around the world do share the same MOST system right?

I assume the unit behind the HU with the fan is the amplifier right?? I will try to take some pictures of it if I'm free to take it off.......

If the CDC device is malfunctioning this will cause MOST failure in turn, all remaining devices (i.e.: head unit) will be inoperable – see here https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ml#post6200327, see attachment for applicable CDC part #s. Amplifier or audio gateway (AGW) is located in trunk, 210 in diagram.

Thanks for your reply Konigstiger.... I went to my friend's workshop, used the Launch scanner to diagnose the audio system, the scanner was able to read the audio gateway, but it failed to detect the COMAND and the CDC, so does it by chance means that I have both faulty units??

Have someone with MB DAS check for fault codes.
