2003/2004 E500 Reliability?

Speaking in general terms are these vehicles costly for maintenance or are they built like a tank? if regular oil changes/maintenance is done can it last a long time? any major issues that will come up when doing inspection?

Just look at the problems in this site and list them. Be sure to check recall on the 6 cyl, SBC brakes, electrical issues. They you decide.

That's not fair. Most folks here came because they had problems and were researching their issue, so you have a skewed data set.

With over 1.5 million W211's produced, the percentage still on the road is a lot better than most cars.... is my guess

Don't forget the airmatic issues with the suspension. The real key is to get good maintenance records. If the airmatics have been done and other issues like SBC taken care of, they could last a while. Otherwise if they haven't been, could get pretty expensive fast.

Mechanics told me that W211s had horrible electrical problems before 05. FWIW.

I did not skew any data, only pointed out issues to research. Buyer beware, If you fail to research and buy anyway, I wish you the best.

My data that I do provide is based on my sample of spending $65,000 on one sample and having it dump on me.

If MB would furnish me a free replacement I'll give them another chance.

I didn't say YOU skewed any data. Don't take everything so personally.

Using the data from this forum will skew the results of any analysis for the previously mentioned reason.

Take a class on statistics if you don't understand.
