W211 Android Headunit

i just have a few Questions about the aftermarket headunits

Has anyone installed this in their vehicle?

is it just a simply plug in install ?

do you have any regrets in getting the Android headunit, like sound quality, how the interface works etc

The Chinese made Head Units are not going to work properly in cars made for the N. American Market. To my knowledge, NO ONE has ever been able to get them to work in our market. The honest vendors will state that in their advertising.

There is a new headunit on the market that a forum member just posted his install videos on.

https://mbworld.org/forums/audio-ele...uide-w211.html

I have been researching a bunch of different headunits and most look like junk. The AVIN Avant-2 looks like the best out there and their company is based out of California. They are pretty popular on the BMW forums and with lots of positive customer reviews.

Here is a link the AVIN Avant-2 for our E-Class.

Looks promising except it doesn't have Satellite Radio. How do I hear Opie and Anthony...er...Opie w/Jim Norton?

And why bypass my nice fiber optic amp?

And do I really need nav there when I have it on my phone?

These units are pretty good. I installed one in my BMW it was all plug and play for the most part. I needed one for my BMW as I had nothing but a radio. The only thing my MB is lacking is back up camera and from what I understand the solution for that is $600. Not worth it.

Reading the info, it looks like if I "upgrade" the head unit from my audio 50, I lose my factory amp and all functionality of the Harmon Kardon system. Seems like a bad trade.
