height adjustment e350 front struts replacement
Just had a indy replace my front struts and top plates with new OE struts and plates. Car was 3" higher in the front than with worn out struts. Had shop remove and adjust as the new struts (which supersede the old non adjustable struts) are adjustable. We set the distance on the new struts from the bottom of the strut to the base of the spring plate to exact same distance as the old strut. However, the car is still sitting higher than it should. Drove 2500 miles as dealer that supplied the parts said it "will settle"...
has anyone else had this experience. Called MB - no help there. I can't believe that the only way to do this is trial and error. There has to be some other way to get this right the first time. Any insight would be appreciated. Car has 100K, upper mounts were shot and rusted, springs were fine. Struts were probably alright too but with mileage decided to replace. Thoughts?
