this comment is from xtcindalubs in autofriend forum

of course, there is no comparison at all but someone approaches from the front of our cars may say "nice amanti"; and from the back of our cars may say "nice camry".

The amanti is more luxurious than the a6, according to that guy?? Hmm...

I was in L.A. and -->

I was in L.A. from Friday the 2nd to Monday the 5th of this year. I went to the L.A. Auto Show and to car dealers and various other places.

I saw loads of previous E classes. Tons of them. They were either silver or black or then silver. BORING!

I didn't saw Jaguar S-Types but not to the extent of the current E Class.

I saw a healthy number of new 2004 X350 Jaguar XJs.

No. MB had the twin Circular headlights ever since the 190 series in the 80s.

I've never seen any 190e with twin circular headlights. If not, prove me wrong with pictures.

It is the 300D that has it

So to conclude this. MB did not copy Jaguar.

The headlight thing is still surrounded by a rectangular thing. MB may not have copied Jaguar's XJ, but I still think there is a resemblance.

The Japanese have few original designs, though. The Datsun 240Z and the mid 90s Toyota Supra are two exceptions though.

Man if you want to go to that extent

Then I'll go ahead and say that MBZ is different because they use on large cirgle vs one smaller one. Which has not been done before.

Besides. Jags twin lights are very small compared to the W210. I think the S-type lights are a better copy off the W210. I love the looks of the S type. Too bad its POS! Even the new Bentley Coupe has the similiar lights.

Not all current Jags are junk. Have you even driven one? I drove a 2004 Jaguar XJR (with optional 20 inch BBS wheels) and was blown away. It is 100% better than an 01 S-Type that I've driven extensively. It has Brembo brakes in case you didn't know. MB quality is FAR cry from what it used to be. Go shut the door on any MB besides a CL or an SLR and then shut the door of a previous S class or a W124 and you'll see what I mean. Cheap plastics, bland styling, and pointless MBs are rampant today.

On a recent business trip I was given a Kia Amanti - fit and finish was reflective of a Kia. Handling and performance were right in line with the import econo-box.

Now that I have seen some of the Kia Amanti ads on tv, I think the grill looks like it came from a Studebaker.

Better watch out Mercedes (Jaws theme plays in the background)...'cause Kia is right on your tail. CHOMP!!!

Something about that styling looks like disconnected elements were stuck together. I like the new mid-sized Suzuki Verona sedan much better, they had the Italians design it for them.
