My dealer called me today and stated that my e500 arrived early (by several weeks). I took this Thursday off to go pick it up. How has the 4matic worked in the slush/snow? Will the stock tires that come with the appearance package work well enough, at least to get me through the rest of the winter? We get a lot of snow (and cold) in upstate NY.

As a little bit of a follow-up to the questions posted earlier, I was not expecting to have to deal with much of winter until after next fall. The dealer thought I would be fine with the original tires for now, since they would be new. They did recommend new tires for next winter. What tires have people used after replacing originals?

Go for the snow's - easiest to get whell/tire combo's. Check out tirerack. I've used Blizzaks on my CLK and now Dunlop winter sport M3's. In both cases no problems

For what it is worth I didn't have the option of getting snow tires when I picked up my E on European Delivery at the end of December. It had the 17" Continentals that come with the appearance package. However, it was 4Matic. We encountered slushy snow on the Autobahn and had no trouble driving 70-80 mph. Also traveled on snow covered mountain roads with no problem - though at much slower speeds.
