Sport Badge on 04's

when I picked up my 04 E320 w/ appearance I was dissappointed that it no longer had the Sport Emblum on the side of the left and right front fenders.

I ordered them thru the dealer and received them today ---

However, do you think it is worth putting on ? Would it make my car look like an 03 when it is an 04 ?

Feedback appreciated.

I was at the dealership a few weeks ago and saw three 2004 e500 sport models there.... If I remember right, one had the badge and the other two didn't.... Personally I would leave them off. I think they look better without.... As far as "looking like an 03" well it's obvious some 04s came with them so your answer should be what ever turns you on.... Screw what others think.

I dont think most people will know the difference. I dont think it should bother you, atleast you know its a 04. If you think it would look better (I think it does) then go for it. Just get personal platse with the year on it or something.

Hey NRealm I got an idea....
Its quite obvious that they are phasing out these sport badges and only a few of the 04s have them. Why not put them on your ride then you can say you have one of the "rare" 04s with the sport badging... This Should get ya a few more bucks on ebay when you go to sell it down the road

Maybe you could call it the Presidents's Sport model. Should be worth another $10,000.00 for it's rarity!!!!!!!!!!!

I also picked up a set this week. I'm going to install them this weekend and if I don't like it I'll just remove it. Cost me a whole $8!

It might be that it's called the appearance package now, and that would run all the way down the door, if they put that badge on.

My wife said that if it would've had the sport badge on it, that we'd have not purchased our car. She was VERY serious about that. My opinion is that they cheapen the look of the car. I wasn't as concerned about it as my wife, as I'd have just taken them off.

My "AP" has a Jan 20 build date so I'm expecting that mine won't have the badge. But I DO wnat them and I will remove it if I change my mind. Soooo.. where did you get them? Just order through Parts dept.?

Also NRealm, what about the Sport badging on the insert on the shift knob? I though the 03 said "Sport" on brushed aluminum and the 04 is bright chrome with no lettering. I was also wondering if I could get a Black Birdseye Maple wood insert for the shift knob instead of the metal insert. Thoughts?

Don't have the part # for that one but I would call the dealer, I'm sure this can be replaced on the 04 -- it appears to be the same shifter.

Also, if you are going to go w/ the exterior badges, might as well go all the way.

I just picked up my e500 4matic on 1/15. It did not have any side badges, insignia on the shifter, but did have white gauges. It looks nice with only the "e500" and "4MATIC" on either side of the trunk.

My 2004 E320 has both the Sport badging on the fenders as well as the shift knob. It's build date was 9/7/03. White guages too.
