Snow options
A few months ago I ordered a new E class with diesel engine which at the present moment cannot be combined with the 4 Matic drivetrain. Chances are, once I receive it a couple of days from today, I will want to go out on a ski trip and most certainly will have to deal with snow. In Italy there seem to be no chains available for m tire size (245/45 R17) so my options are:
1) Snow Tires-Big investment for very little use
2) Spikes Spider-Seem to work ok but must have an attachment installed to the wheel before you go out into the snow (http://www.spikes-spider.ch/)
3) Autosock-Never heard of this until recently when I read an article. Very ingenious, pretty inexpensive and easy to install. Seem to work fine but apparently no sizes to match the bigger tire sizes. Hpefully coming out soon (http://www.autosock.com/).
Can any of you share your experiences on the snow and what is the best solution out there?
