W211 Repair costs

Back on topic
Just got my windshield replaced:
Cost: $426 for the glass, $150 for Labor
Of course my Evil dealership did not do the work themselves, they got an outside contractor that has been doing prestige euro brand for many years, to come do the work in-house.

I agree. Although it takes all of a hour to turn 2 rotors and replace pads. Does anyone know the standard MB shop rate per hour in california?

I believe it's between $90 to $100 per hr per the 3 dealerships I've been through.

Yep--genuine MB parts. There are apparently some rain sensors on the glass that make the cost higher. Also, my E has the Appearance Package, so presumably the glass is slightly different than the regular E.

is that for OEM MB glass?
that is also not too bad of a price if its OEM glass.

Any new contributions, I'm sure any and all service experiences (at cost) would be beneficial to all.

Count me in. As I start to pay for services, I'll post my costs.
Can a thread be made to look more like a chart? Just wondering how you'll display the ongoing costs submitted by the members?

maybe konigstiger can edit a post (perhaps the first one) and keep a running log of the costs? The E hasn't been in for any repairs or maintenance yet, but when it does, I'll post. I think this is important. I know certain BMW dealers that will charge much higher prices than other BMW dealers (we're comparing apples to apples) so it's not as if we're comparing a dealer to an independent shop.

Might I add that my rear brake pads are approaching their wear limit causing a very annoying squeak. My dealer quoted $250. In referencing Joseesq's cost of $160 (posted here on 1/24/04) my dealer matched his dealers price.

Hi,
After I read the first few posts, I felt.....
MB has created this competition by increasing the dealerships. Especially in So Cal, they are SO many dealerships. Yes, people do buy the car below invoice here and there. But.... That is not a good sign when you buy car cheap, because the resales value of your car will also decrease.
When a car were sold below invocice, which the car's price is weak and hard to hold. That also mean when you resale the car will be the same way. BMW doesn't have as many as dealership as MB does, that is the main reason BMW hold its new and used car price.
For example BMW X5. Can you buy a X5 below invoice? Which the car is in its 5th year model life. E Class has been go below invoice the very 1th year.

So are we going to start a new thread on the original question? The question was to get a set of costs for no warranty or scheduled maintenance repairs. On the '05s, even scheduled items could be included.
One very good thing that free scheduled maintenance did was prevent the dealer from adding to the package. Most Honda/Toyota/etc dealers I know a) include a lot of unspecified inspections and fluid replacements at premium $$$ and b) convince the customer he needs service much more frequently than the manufacturer's specification.
The service warning indicators eliminate b), however a) can still exist. Why by $500 for a $200 repair? It is like be an uninsured patient at a hospital. On insurance, only necessary treatment and a $400 bill. Uninsured? A $2000 battery of tests with each test at 2x-3x the price for an insured patient.
Lets identify the dealers who overcharge!
