Trunk Latch

Here is a new one! The short version is when you open the trunk with the latch on the trunk itself, then trying to close it with the button it won't go down. So I close the trunk manually, get in the car and it keeps dialing an sos. Weird. Is there a way to clean and lube the trunk finger latch above the license plate ?
It is sticking in the release position. Thanks David.

This is not a new issue according to several dealers in my area. They advised replacing is the only option (which I find hard to believe). We stopped using the trunk release and only use the key for now. Or if we HAVE to use the trunk, manually push the release back to open. Not difficult.

did your car dial an sos to MB?. Anyways as I see its a sealed unit I sprayed wd40 on the pivot points of the handle and It is working fine for now. Perhaps with the latch stuck the car thinks its been in an accident? Thanks for the response. David.

It is calling to get the unlock command from mbrace/teleaid.
My w203 had this issue I learned to just use the key or put my finger above and I could pull it just enough to open the trunk but not enough to where it would get stuck.
Stupid issue that I have heard you can remove the assembly and clean/lube it up to fix.

Yes mine called. I asked the dealer to code out SOS and they advised me of the issue. If it can be removed and repaired I would love to know because I would def take the time to do it.
