Detection of Balance of Shaft Failure

How accurate this simple detection of shaft failure. Please watch courtesy of youtube (midotizzo)


Can anyone put in detail where is the marking line is as shown. I appreciate all input.

The cast reference line is top center behind the crankshaft.

I can appreciate your help in posting a Startek vid to detect a potential balance shaft issue,however a much quicker and cleaner method is to post the VIN and a knowledgeable person will tell you if your vehicle is in or out or range of the balance shaft issue.

In fact if you simply do a search you will find loads of posts on the subject!!

The video claims to detect actual failure of the balance shaft, not the potential. You can clearly see that the shaft is off center in the second case which they claim is proof of a failed balance shaft. Do you refute that claim?
