W211 Sedan Headliner -- Flapping, no sag. Rear Clips? Question

Hi all -- I've got a question about my 2006 E55 but I figured I might get more traffic here! Still a new-to-me car as I've only had it for a couple of months...

I was riding home on the highway with all 4 windows open, and also the pano sunroof. During a peek at my rear-view mirror, for the first time I noticed the rear portion of the headliner "flapping" around as a result of all the turbulence.

My initial thought was that the headliner was starting to peel away from the backing, but after checking it out, it's not. The whole rear portion feels "flimsy", as if there aren't any clips secured above the area where the rear headrests sit...

I know the Dealer recently repaired the PANO roof within the past year, so could they have not snapped in or secured some of the rear clips properly??

Anybody got an image they can help me out with? Thanks in advance!

If repaired within 12 months (unlimited mileage) take it back and have them revisit – request they road test the vehicle with you. DIY: http://workshop-manuals.com/mercedes...es/page_22068/

Hey Konig, thanks for the quick reply! The repair was done under the previous owner, all I've got is the $4,000 invoice from MB to show for it. Nonetheless, in the awesome link you posted, it looks like clips #11 are exactly (the two in the center/rear) where it feels 'unclipped'.

Bumping this to see if OP fixed the issue. I just bought my E63 last week and it is doing the same thing. There is evidence that the previous owner had pulled down the headliner before and it is not attached in the rear. Also one of the C pillars is loose at the top (I think that part is broken ). I can't feel or see where it is supposed to be attached. I do not have a pano roof.

Well it is a little hard to tell in the pics, but it looks like there is a clip in the rear that is supposed to slide into something, coming from the front of the car to the back? If that's right looks like i would need to drop the whole headliner to move it forward so it could get it to slide back in.
