Is There An Audio Gateway (AGW) Fix? Draining Battery

I have searched and read multiple posts about the Audio Gateway problem that the W211's have. Mine will not shut off and is draining the battery. I pulled the fuse and called it a day but it is so inconvenient. Has anybody found a thread where somebody was able to actually fix it without buying a rebuilt AGW from the dealer? There has to be something that can be done to fix it.

I believe you can also take it out and send it off somewhere to be rebuilt. That might be cheaper than the dealer. Or you can look up the part number and pick up a used one from a junkyard or ebay.

Part #s, choose 2118274642 >. Normally plug/play but there have been cases where AGW required STAR coding and part should be checked for current software.

There are two solutions:

1. change the power source to one that shuts off with the key is off.

I refer you to this thread. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w211...-doesnt-4.html

2. Go to the MB dealer and fork over $400 to $500 for reman AGW which includes installation.

I wish I could tell you a third option eg, replace this diode on the that board. Sadly that information is not in the public domain.
