It will be avaliable on end of 04 production for all 05 models according to MB...
Just bought E500 few weeks ago. I checked that the production date is 12/2003. I ordered it with appearance + premium package. I checked the headlight today and found out that it doesn't have Active Turning Headlight. The headlight is only moving up and down......
Please help. What can I do now? Should I claim to MB or to the dealer that sell the car?
OK, I think I need some help here.

I more than understand your disapointment bro...A small group of us here on the board were all looking forward to this system only to find out the active headlights were factory delayed. With all the info compiled from our small group and info gathered from our dealers, we (for the most part) have determined that the active headlights were starting to be installed at the factory sometime in the last week of dec 03 or early Jan 04..... The lighting ordering code in which the dealer uses to order the options also changed to #339, I think it was #319 before the change... I would suggest to look at the original window sticker with your options and see if this new code is present... If you find out for sure your car does not in fact have this feature then I would suggest for you to go to your dealer and ask to be (retrofitted) with this option. User jbmaxx on this forum is in fact having this option installed by the dealer next week on his car, perhaps you can get them to do the same. I'm in a different situation than you as I did'nt accept the car when delivered and reordered another one with the feature... Of coarse I'm now waiting all over again... (hope its worth it).
Goodluck.

In my window sticker, it only says:
322: Appearance Package
Bi-xenon headlamps
5spoke 17" wheels
sculpted lower body works
326: Premium package
glass sunroof
whatever
whatever
nothing said 339 or 319. Can you send me the link for user jbmaxx where he's able to contact dealer to install active headlight?
One more thing, I live in San Francisco, CA and I bought the car from the dealer in LA. Man, should I drive down to LA or I can just have local dealer take care of it?

Talk to your dealer and tell them MB USA is blaming damn. This should **** them off enough to do something. Also tell them that you will write nice things about them on your survey and complain about MB USA if they are willing to compensate you for the lack of the active headlight (either retofit or something else).
It worked for me in SF MB
It is no avaliable at this moment.
I think only the 2005 model will be offer.
rusnakmb... I would like to know, where are you getting your information.... According to my dealer my car will arrive with this feature...(arival in late march/early april). How do you explain the fact that user jbmaxx (a member on this site) will be getting the active light system dealer installed tommorrow on his car????

Per a letter sent out to dealers on 2/20/04:
Mercedes-Benz USA is pleased to announce the availability of our Bi-Xenon headlamps with active curve illumination system.
Additionally, we would like to announce some improvements in the seating options lineup for MY05 E-Class, which take effect with the MY05 E320 CDI diesel
1) MY04 E-Class Bi-Xenon headlamps with active curve illumination system.
This option, which monitors E-Class' steering angle and driving speed, activelyshifts the headlamp beams to either side to better follow the curvature of the road. Available as of January 1st decade scheduling, it can be ordered in 2 different packages:
339 Lighting Package
422 Lighting Package
These newly coded packages replace the 319 Lighting and 322 Appearance packages, which were built with Bi-Xenon headlamps prior to January production.
I will not bother with #2 on CDI seats since this string is about the h/lamps. If anyone wants a copy of this letter, pmail me at aufever@prodigy.net
