Engine swap question E200CDI
Hello, I've got a E200 CDI -08 that a guy drove without oil until it stopped , so the engine is probably toast.. Only problem is that it's pretty hard to find the OM646.820 that seems to be in the E200, there is lots of OM646.821 that are in E220 and I was wondering if it will fit? Of course I will swap all the sensors and anything that can be a immobilizer.
The engines are the same displacement so I guess that Mercedes maybe put a larger turbo or just remapped the 220 engine to get the 170hp instead of 136 that is in the 200.
Long story short then, Does the 220 have any differences to the 200 that can be a problem in a engine swap?

You need to find SDS guru who has done something like that before.
On modern cars the mechanical engine sway is easy part.
Making new engine and/or new ECU talking your your TCU can be much harder.
If you watch TV show "Monkey Garage" this is show about top-notch professionals who take classic cars and rebuild them with new power-train, air suspension and such.
They did digital engine swap on the show who air like 3 years ago and even having 6 professional in the shop, they first call state guru, who could not make car computers talking. Finally nationwide search flew 2 guys, who spend 2 days working with keyboards. to get ignition.
We are talking US guys working on US cars.
I will not even speculate what might happen when you go exotic like MB.
