05 E500 New ride Airmatic shock replacement.

I just picked up a 05 E500 with a blown front drivers side shock. After removing wheel to confirm bad shock it turns out to be a aftermarket Arnot shock. I ordered a new one. My main Question is will i have to do a calibration after the new shock is installed? Also cars has 130k anything i should look at and expect to replace? Bought this car to replace my 99 Ml430, which i did a good amount of work too and i know the cars share similar engine and components.

Calibration is not necessary.

It's a straight swap no calibration required however be extremely careful you do not over tighter the air line hose that goes into the top of the shock as the thread on the shock is plastic and very easy to strip

For what it's worth, that Arnott strut is not an aftermarket part. It is a Bilstein-made strut, remanufactured by Arnott. In other words, it is the original equipment part with new innards and such. It is a good product. On our E500, which also has 130,000 miles, most of what has needed to be replaced has just been maintenance stuff. At that mileage, this of course includes things like shocks, struts, etc. I have replaced things like the sway bar bushings, control arms, etc, as the things indicated that they needed to be replaced by their performance and noises. After doing so, the car really drives like it's brand new. There are excellent sources of remanufactured factory parts discussed in these forums, and the savings mean that you can keep such a great car in super condition without spending a fortune.
