Not to be unhelpful, but you're asking the wrong people. Ask the company you are leasing from. On the face of it, selling something you don't own seems ... dubious, but who am I to say, since I've never leased a car?

In Texas, you need to have the Title or the buyer must be able to assume the note for you to be able to sell the car. I would assume that most states would have similar laws.

i've sold a few leased cars to private parties.
it just takes a couple extra steps of paperwork but it's not difficult.
just call to get your payoff from the leasing company (as you would like any normal auto loan) and, if you want,they can mail you the payoff forms and walk you through it. it's pretty much the same procedure as if you had a bank loan on the car.
