This is a true horror story. This stinks man, sucks your view about the product has diminished, probably, thanks to your plumber... With that said, when you get your gaskets done, replace your filler neck and oil cap too. And if a Merk dealership is doing all this, pay for a freaking steam clean. No point in fixing oil leaks and not cleaning the area of the leak. That just annoys me...
oh, and the trans fluid level was low probably because it was in the crankcase.... as said previously.

What a bad experience!!!
I use to live in Scarborough, ME and there were plenty of competent independent shops around. Unsure of your location in Maine but you can use this site to find a shop that handles Mercedes to assist
