I hope you only play idiot.
Instead of being a creep and worrying about where I stay and the closet dealer to me, how about you give some useful information the OP can use in order to fix his situation. I'm not going to argue/go back and forth with you man.

well guys to kill the little war that's going on here.... My mechanic was wrong it wasn't my driveshaft that was bad instead it was the drivers side axle that is shot

I want to buy it today but Dealer wants 1,130.00 for it (not worth it from the dealer)

Which option sounds the best

1. replacement from a wrecked w211 (320, 350, 500, 550) and put it on

2. Buy an aftermarket one from local parts store

3. Bite the bullet and buy it from the dealer (really don't want to)

I think if you find used one on junk yard and it is not too old, that would be best deal.
Mileage is not an issue, but I would at least buy new outer boot for it.
Aftermarket CV joints don't have good reputation, but if you plan to sell the car in next year... you can use Dorman like cmriv suggests.

Are the boots torn? I can't see myself dropping 1100 on a new axle from dealership. Junkyard or dorman or something aftermarket is the route i would go, however if you need your vehicle today the stealership may be your only option. I presume it's ticking? Did he drive it on a lift to verify this? I'm just being curious cause that is some coin for one part

Well yesterday me and my mechanic got the car on the lift (I had the front driveshaft to change) and we were messing with the driveshaft for play. There was barely any play, so as I'm walking around the front of the vehicle to figure out the problem and I see that the axle boot is COMPLETLY gone. And on top of that, the axle shaft was starting to crack. It was time for a change

Dang that stinks bro. At least you found the culprit to the noise you were hearing. If the axle wasn't cracked you could just repair the boots. Looks like you are gonna have to replace it though. Let us know what you end up doing.
