E500 resonator delete+straights
Hello, I plan on deleting my resonator and mufflers then installing straight pipes with J pipes. I plan to do the cut myself then have the pipes installed at a shop. Would it be safe to drive my car to the shop with no resonator or mufflers?

It would be safe, no real problems. Though I would recommend the people doing the welding are the same people doing the cuts, makes it easier on everyone and it really wont be much cheaper.

Instead of making your own J pipes, you should take a look at purchasing these: http://www.myhotmercedes.com/Mercede...MUF-ZR1/809465
Then look at some nice tailpipe or other muffler accessories here: http://www.myhotmercedes.com/Mercede...Class/Mufflers
Really great products & pricing.

That's interesting! I haven't seen those yet, I guess the only downside is it looks like you're bound to their tip, I kept my stock tips. The "universal fit" descriptor also makes me a bit worried unless someone has tried them on the W211 thus far and made sure they work. Making a J-pipe is pretty easy though for any shop, took me less than $200 and a couple hours time.
Man I miss the sound a lot.

I'm taking my 500 to a performance shop on Wednesday. Getting my resonator replaced with a magna flow X pipe and removing my mufflers to run straight pipes with 29 inch j pipes. Going to cut bumper and add quad tips myself later down the road.

Got the work done, ended up doing a muffler and resonator delete and installing a magnalfow X pipe in the resonators spot and running dual straights without the J pipes. No drone, and I've been driving on it for a week. Sounds absolutely amazing!

So but...
If only the C450 AMG had been a few grand cheaper thanks though mate, she's a good looking car, and under warranty! Admittedly I do miss some of the niceties of the Mercedes interior, even their sports cars feel luxurious inside. But I'm young, who cares lol

Sorry I never answered this. Well you have to remember I'm at 6000ft of elevation, so the power of the M235i combined with the light weight makes it a SIGNIFICANTLY faster car than the E550. Being rear-wheel-drive it's quite a bit more fun too, there isn't any turbo lag but I really enjoy the crack/pop on upshift, burbles on downshift, and the EWG blow-off when you let off the accelerator. Very linear power band that doesn't die off as much "up top" as the E550 did. I do miss the V8 sound and what felt like a more instantaneous hit of torque from the E550 with all-wheel-drive.
Yeah any sound clips from OP yet?
