04 E500 Wagon

E500 wagon power tailgate malfunction

Hey guys, just purchased a gorgeous e500 wagon with only 39k miles and the only thing wrong is the automatic tailgate will not open. You can hear the motor running but nothing happens unless you open it slightly to help it out, then it will finish the job.

Any idea what the problem is? Anyone with simmilar problems, I was surprised when I searched And didn't find similar problems.

Sadly not many wagons in the USA and since most of the forum is US members not many posts about them.
Sounds like the transmission or whatever mechanism connects to the motor is bad.

Just looked up the closing mechanism https://www.parts.com/index.cfm?fuse...Benz-PUMP-ASSY

Looks like the motor #17 is connected directly to the arm so it looks like you have to replace it as one part. Or take it apart and see if you can fix it.
