Rear Sub Replacement

Good evening guys. I have a 2008 e350 and I want to replace the 10" sub in the rear deck and I need some info regarding a good shallow mount replacement. Are there any close direct replacement subs and if not does anyone know the mounting depth of the OEM sub thats in there now?

It depends on what system you have, whether its the standard sound or the HK. There are good aftermarket replacements in the form of Rockford Fosgate Or Pioneer, check Amazon. Make sure when you install it you have an MDF template for the new sub to rest on. If you want some real bass just get a 10 in a sealed box in the trunk. Installing a aftermarket sub in the rear deck is alot of work.

Thanks w203ck for the response. I already have replaced the head unit and amp in the trunk. I just recently added a small sub enclosure in the trunk but in the cabin its weak and muddled unless I open the trunk so I just decided to replace the 10" in the rear deck (which sounds decent on my kenwood amp it's just bottoming out) with another better shallow sub.

I found this
Amazon.com: PIONEER TS-SW2502S4 10-Inch, 1.200 Watts Shallow-Mount Subwoofer: Cell Phones & Accessories Amazon.com: PIONEER TS-SW2502S4 10-Inch, 1.200 Watts Shallow-Mount Subwoofer: Cell Phones & Accessories
to be most effective in my friends W204. It sounds amazing, it's a B**** if you don't have folding seats but its worth it. I suggest making a clearer hole where the existing sub is to allow more sound the come through.

Do you think just removing the sub in the rear just will help?

What will make a big difference is if you remove the existing sub and and have the sealed box in the trunk it could make a vast difference. My friend did a install on his W204 and replaced the sub in the rear deck with the one mentioned above, It sounded great and a big difference from before. Try installing a sub in the rear deck but put quite a lot of sound deadening and MDF as it could rattle. Or if you have the patience to do something like this https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ement-e55.html it would sound immensely good.

Honestly, I just added two 12 inch subs in a sealed box and threw them in my trunk. No point in replacing the factory.

W211_500 did you remove the factory sub from its location? I have a sub in the trunk now but I get no bass in the cabin.

Nope, left factory sub in place. I get insane bass in the cabin with my setup. What subs/amp/wattage are you running?

I just recently added this sub below in an effort not to give up much space in my trunk. I also have a Kenwood KAC-7204 which im replacing with a Rockford Foagate P-1000 1BD.

Maybe you guys have lower standards than I do, but from what I've seen mentioned, I would never recommend them. A sub designed for free-air (AKA infinite baffle) is what should be used to replace the factory sub. The Pioneer for example, based on specs, I can't see having a very strong bottom end and limited output.

So, for the guys that said the did a sealed sub or two and output lacked, what sub and power were you using? For those who said output was fine, what sub and power were you using?

What I will end up doing eventually is building an enclosure to fit under the rear deck and replace the factory sub location.
