piston and boot
what are some the symptoms for the a torn boot that covers the pistons in the brake system and does the caliper have to be replaced?

Its a dust boot. It does not hold the fluid back. A torn boot will allow dirt to get into the Caliper piston area. You should be able to just have the boots replaced if all else is good.

Thank you, I have just replaced the Pads and noticed the boot is torn but the brakes seems to be working fine when driving.

It was my first time to replace brake pads in the front. It was very easy and I wounder if the rear ones would be the same?

Rears are usually easier, but you need to get that boot replaced.
