E320 CDI Oil Consumption

E320 CDI Oil Consumption
It appears that a good many V6 and V8 engines suffer from excessive oil consumption.
I'd appreciate hearing what kind of experience current CDI owners are having with regard to oil consumption.

Very good, but of course, it's a straight six not a V!

I believe that the problem with the M112 and M113 engines is that Mercedes wanted to create low friction engines and in the process reduced the ring pressures to the point where oil consumption on these engines is sometimes unacceptable. I also think that this has something to do with the piston slap problems on the 5 liter V8.
When Mercedes designed these engines, their primary objectives were reduced cost, reduced emissions and improved fuel economy. Apparently, reliability was somewhere down the priority list.
I'm hoping that reliability was a higher priority on the CDI engines because I want another Mercedes but it won't be one of the 3-valve variety.
