Maybe because no one was buying a car during that time because The ARNOLD had not taken office yet and had not repealed the registration fees yet, so everyone was just sitting around waiting for it to happen. (Even though the Arnold stated it was retroactive).

Not much fun being a dealer and no one coming in because of misinformation?
I just got my 2004 CLK for $2500 under INVOICE. Remember folks... just because a dealer is selling a car for under "invoice" doesn't mean that they are losing money.

Doesn't sounds right.
In Nov. new (at that time) MY04 model just start rolling over to dealers and you get $1K off invoice (read - dealer made like $500-$600 on the new model year sale) - sound quite interesting who approved that sale...
I bought my car from Mark too, got one of the first few 04s (ordered). Invoice or so. Sales way down end of the year, in early 04, prices picked up a bit. 1K off for 320 is very likey.
